August 2017 was a hot month in the comic book universe with several great new titles published and released to comic book shops everywhere! DC Comics newest event started in August while Marvel Comics summer event ended. Image, IDW, Dark Horse, Aftershock Comics plus all the other comic book publishers presented fans with several new titles as well as on-going stories in August 2017 giving readers plenty of comic books to choose from.
It was DC Comics Dark Nights Metal #1 that caused a flurry of activity in the comic book universe. Dark Nights Metal started DC Comics latest event in August and created a high demand for the first comic of the mini-series! Dark Nights Metal #1 has been reprinted two times and continues to sell! Batman’s "The War of Jokes and Riddles” story-line came to a close and was the second best-selling comic book of August for DC Comics.
The final comic of Marvel Comics was released in August; Secret Empire # 10 which was Marvel’s top-seller for the month. Marvel also treated fans to an all-new, highly demanded team-up with its second best-selling comic of the month, Generations Wolverine & All-New Wolverine #1! Image Comic’s Walking Dead clawed and chewed its way to the top-selling position for publishing company and Lady Mechanika goes on the hunt for a mysterious assassin after her associate's friends are murdered one by one in Benitez Productions, Lady Mechanika Clockwork Assassin #2 the second best-selling comic book for the “Indies”.
Rick & Morty and Invader Zim put Oni Press on the map along with its sold-out with its newest release, Dead of Winter #1. Albatross Funnybooks newest comic Galaktikon #1, quickly rose up the top-ten sellers and sold-out! And, Archie’s Sabrina #8 placed Archie Comics in the top-five best-selling comic books in August 2017.
