Happy Thanksgiving and Happy Comic Book Reading. November was a month full of Thanksgiving treats, lots of new comic books and continuing stories for fans of all genres and ages. DC Comics and Marvel Comics split the top ten each taking five of the top ten best sellers in November of 2013.
DC Comics Batman #25 and Harley Quinn #0 battled for first place with the Batman coming out on top taking the number one selling comic book of November. Superman Unchained # 4, followed by Forever Evil # 3 grabbed the fourth and fifth place and Batman/Superman #5 came in at the ninth spot. DC Comics number one seller, Batman #25 plunged Gotham City into the darkness, compliments of The Riddler. The thrilling return of Harley Quinn came in her own monthly series, Harley Quinn #0 while Superman rushed to stop Ascension’s attack in Superman Unchained #4. Forever Evil #3 has our greatest heroes’ dead, and now it’s up to the unlikeliest of defenders to rise up to save us; humanity’s only hope Lex Luthor? In Batman/Superman #5 the Toymaster unleashed an all-new evil, with one goal kill Batman! Will Superman be able to save him?
Marvel Comics Amazing X-Men # 1 landed in the third spot and Infinity #6, Superior Spider-Man #22 and All-New X-Men #19 took the third, sixth and seventh slots with Superior Spider-Man # 21 taking the top tenth spot. Amazing X-Men #1 starts an all-new era, can the X-Men find and bring back the fan favorite fuzzy blue elf, over in Infinity #6 we have the conclusion of the Marvel Summer event. Superior Spider-Man # 21, Stunner is back and she only wants one thing, Revenge and in issue #22 the Spider-Event of the year has started in, The Darkest Hour.
Image Comics led the indie pack. With Robert Kirkman's The Walking Dead #116 and #117 taking the thirteenth and fourteenth spots, it was Image Comics' top-selling comic book in November. Dark Horse Comics took the 28th spot with The Star Wars #3, their best-selling comic of November 2013. IDW’s My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic #13 was the best seller for IDW in November of 2013.
The best-selling manga coming out of November 2013 was Viz Medias’ Yu-Gi-Oh 5DS, volume #5 and Naruto Trade Paperback, volume #63 taking first and second place slots out of the top ten. Dark Horse Comics captured three of the top ten slots with Berserk Trade Paperback, volume #37, Lone Wolf and Cub Omnibus Trade Paperback, volume #3 and Oh My Goddess Trade Paperback, volume #45.
