Ben Reilly is a clone of Peter Parker, Spider-Man who was created by a grieving Miles Warren. Miles, a professor of biology at Empire State University and had become infatuated with a young Gwen Stacy. His obsession with Gwen led to a hatred of Peter Parker and Spider-Man; and ultimately led to the birth of Warrens alter ego, “The Jackal.” It would be the Jackal who created The Scarlett Spider, which would be used by other heroes and villains in the Marvel Universe.
