Scottish born; popular writer Grant Morrison writes comics that comic book readers want to read. His best-known comic books include from DC Comics… Animal Man, Batman, JLA, Action Comics, All-Star Superman, Vertigo's The Invisibles, and Fleetway's 2000 AD (many of these issues are available for sale here at White Dragon Comics). In the 1980’s Grant Morrison spent a lot of time touring with his band The Mixers, while still writing comic books for DC Comics (Starblazer… occasionally). In 1985, Morrison began writing comic strips for Doctor Who magazine and Morrison's first continuing serial began in 2000 AD in 1987, when he and Steve Yeowell created “Zenith”.
It was Morrison's work on Zenith that caught the eye of DC Comics, who then asked him to work for them. Animal Man was Morrison’s first work and it was his writing of this comic that “put him on the map” so to speak. After the electrifying Animal Man comic, Morrison was asked to take over Doom Patrol, which featured his fantastic take on the superhero genre with issue # 19 in 1989. Batman: Arkham Asylum was the epic writer’s next big success… the graphic novel garnered commercial and critical acclaim and is considered by many to be one of the greatest Batman stories of all time, and one of the best works of Grant Morrison's career. Comics historian Les Daniels observed in 1995 that "Arkham Asylum was an unprecedented success, selling 182,166 copies in hardcover and another 85,047 in paperback.
Morrison’s career at DC Comics continue to grow in success and soon he would be writing several different superhero comics’ including, Batman and several other Batman titles, Action Comics, All Star Superman and The Green Lantern in 2018.
