June 2014 was a hot month for comic books and the big five did not disappoint. DC Comic’s was the big winner in the month of June 2014 taking five of the top ten selling comic books, followed by Marvel Comics with four slots and Image Comics Walking Dead rounding out the top ten. Titan Comics, IDW, Image and Dark Horse Comics also released some great comic book titles this month.
DC Comics lead the pack this month taking the number one spot with Batman # 32; Zero Year and Batman confronts the Riddler in the penultimate chapter of Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo's retelling of Batman's origin. In addition to Batman # 32, Amanda Conner, Jimmy Palmiotti, and Chad Hardin's Harley Quinn #7 ranked #4; Geoff Johns and John Romita, Jr.'s Superman #32 ranked #5; Johns and Keith Champagne's Justice League # 31 ranked # 8; and Brian Buccaletto and Francis Manapul's Detective Comics # 32 ranked # 10.
Marvel Comics came in a strong second with four titles in the top ten. Led by Dan Slott and Humberto Ramos' Amazing Spider-Man took second in sales, while Jason Aaron and Mike Deodato's Original Sin came in at the number three spot, followed by Aaron and Deodato's Original Sin #4 taking the sixth spot, and Dan Slott and Ramon Perez's Amazing Spider-Man at the number seven spot.
Image Comics rounded out the top ten with Walking Dead taking the ninth spot. Walking Dead # 128 – Its time for Rick to accept that Carl is growing up and this new society, can they be trusted. Image Comics also released Robert Kirkman’s All-New # 1 hit Outcast, Kyle Barnes has been plagued by demonic possession all his life and now he needs answers. The Wicked + the Divine # 1 previewed - Every ninety years, twelve gods incarnate as humans. They are loved, they are hated and in two years, they are dead. Image also released the hit comic book, Wildfire - Is genetically modified food an end to world hunger or a first class ticket to the apocalypse? Lastly is Red City # 1, a tale of a hard-nosed investigator searching for a missing girl on Mars while dealing with alien mobs, street vendettas, and political conspiracies?
Kid-friendly comics were in abundance this month; Kaboom , Bongo, IDW and DC Comics released some of the best kid-friendly comics in the month of June 2014. Hit titles Scooby-Doo, Spongebob, Rocky and Bullwinkle, Adventure Time and Bravest Warriors were among a few of the great comic books released for all-ages.
