October 2013 was a spooktacular month for comic books full of ghastly stories and gut wrenching tales. DC Comics, Marvel Comics, Image and IDW Comics along with Dark Horse and Zenescope published some of the best comic book stories and introduced readers to all-new tales and amazing characters.
Image Comics Walking Dead #115, Robert Kirkman's best-selling zombie series celebrated ten years of publication and was the number one seller for the month of October 2013. DC Comics and Marvel Comics captured the remaining nine top ten comic book seller’s slots.
DC Comics was the big winner in October 2013 taking five of the top ten with comic books, Batman #24, Forever Evil #2, Justice League #24, Superman Wonder Woman #1 and Sandman Overture #1. Batman #24, DC Comics best-seller was a double sized issue and part four of Zero Hour. In Forever Evil #2 the villains have taken over, can the Teen Titans do what the adults could not? Justice League #24, the Justice League is Dead? So, who’s at the top of the food chain? Superman/Wonder Woman #1 is the beginning of an all new chapter that will define their relationship. The highly anticipated Sandman Overture #1 made its debut, containing the Sandman's origin story, from the birth of a galaxy to the moment that Morpheus is captured.
Marvel Comics took four of the top ten slots with comic books, Infinity #4 and Infinity #5, and Superior Spider-Man #19 and Superior Spider-Man #20. Infinity #4 had the Illuminati against Thanos and in Infinity #5 the war for Earth begins. In Marvels Superior Spider-Man #19 Necessary Evil Concludes, and in issue #20, new beginnings and new twists that will be felt in the pages of Spider-Man for years to come!
Small Press Comics top ten included Afterlife with Archie #1, the best-selling small press comic in October 2013, the zombie apocalypse strikes Riverdale, USA what will happen to the gang? Can they survive? Aspen Comics Trish out of Water #1 came in at second followed by Letter 44 #1, Sonic The Hedgehog #253 and #254, Grimm Fairy Tales Oz #3, Sonic Universe #57, Rachel Rising #20, Mega Man #30 and in the tenth place Grimm Fairy Tales Robyn Hood Wanted #5.
The Top five selling manga’s for the month of October 2013 include, Battling Boy Volume #1, Hello Kitty Here We Go Graphic Novel, Love and Rockets New Stories Volume #6, Bleach Volume #58, and Black Butler Volume #15.
