Marvel Comics ruled the market in the month of May 2015, sweeping several of the top ten selling comic book spots with the new hit Secret Wars. Jonathan Hickman and Esad Ribic, Secret Wars, the best-selling comic book of May left our beloved heroes dealing with The Final Incursion as it threatens the multiverse with collapse.
In total, Marvel Comics had seven titles among the top ten, including Secret Wars #2, Jason Aaron and John Cassaday's Star Wars #5, Deadpool's Secret Wars #1, G. Willow Wilson's A-Force #1, introducing an all-women Avengers team, Old Man Logan #1 and Kieron Gillen and Salvador Larocca's Darth Vader #5.
Boom Comics took the number two best-selling comic book spot with Bravest Warriors: Tales of the Holo John #1. DC Comics followed taking the last two spots with their new Convergence line of titles, issues five and six.
Among the premier publishers, Robert Kirkman's The Walking Dead ranked #21 for the month and was Image Comics' best-selling comic in May. Chuck Palahniuk returned to the world of Fight Club with artist Cameron Stewart for Fight Club #1, Dark Horse Comics' top book in May at #25. And finally, IDW Publishing's My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic #30 ranked #112 and was the publisher's best-selling book for the month.
Batman faces new threats from the Riddler and Killer Croc in Geoff Johns and Gary Frank's original graphic novel, Batman: Earth One Volume 2 from DC Comics, the best-selling graphic novel of May. Marvel Comics had three titles among the top ten, including Night Nurse and Mark Millar and Steve McNiven's Civil War. Image Comics had four titles, including Kurtis J. Wiebe, Roc Upchurch, and Stjepan Sejic's Rat Queens Volume 2, Jason Aaron and Jason Latour's Southern Bastards Volume 2, and Brian K. Vaughan and Fiona Staples' Saga Volume 4.
